Congratulations, you’ve secured an interview for your perfect job. You’ve researched the company, prepared your answers and you’re ready to go. Regardless of what sort of role you’re interviewing for, it’s likely that you’ll be asked the same question at the end of every interview. So, do you have any questions for us?
Now it’s likely that the basics have already been explained to you by your recruitment contestant. Things like working hours, holidays, and benefits. Additionally, the interviewer may have also given you the answers to most of the other interview questions you had prepared. Regardless, it’s always great to have at least one question to ask.
Here’s 4 interview questions to help you get started
How do you see my skills and experience fitting with the needs of your company?
Interviews can feel a little ‘staged’. It all depends on if the person conducting the interview has lots of experience, or if they are new to this part of their role. Remember to bear that in mind when attending an interview. To conduct a great interview is a skill. So sometimes things like how your skills and experience fit can get missed. If you feel that this hasn’t been addressed in an interview, it’s a great question to ask.
It also helps the interviewer envision you at the company. How your skills match or compliment those of the current team. And what additional experience you will bring.
What are the prospects for growth in this role?
It’s important to remember that growth doesn’t always mean promotion. Growth can be developing your skills and learning new things. Lots of companies now offer some great incentives to help attract people to join their company and learning and development is a key area. Whilst you may be happy in the same role for many years, it’s still important to show that you are willing to learn and adapt.
What do you enjoy most about working here? (this is our favourite interview question!)
This is a great fall-back interview question. Most people like to talk about themselves. And if they really have a passion for what they do, they will be delighted to share this with you. When it comes to interview questions, this really is one of the most insightful. Not only will you get to know about the company and why people stay, you’ll also get to find out more about your interviewer. It’s likely that this person will be your line manager. Therefore, getting to know their personality is a great insight into how happy you will be in the role.
When do you expect to be making a hiring decision?
Again, it’s possible that your recruitment consultant has been given the hiring timeframe. However, in the current market, the situation can be a little more fluid. You may be interviewing for more than one role, but if this is your preferred choice, it’s important to know how long you will wait for a decision. Additionally, it shows the interviewer that you are keen on the role.
